Under Summer Showers Apr 8, 2012

Yes! Easter! Lent is over and I’ve just obliterated two Creme Eggs in celebration. I spent this Easter going ice-skating with Carl and his niece, Alicia. She’s six (although she’ll make sure you know she’s nearly seven) and almost enjoyed herself too much! She was a bit nervous at first, but quickly decided it’s much more fun to purposely fall over on the ice than actually attempt to skate anyway. Personally, I was more than happy to have my feet safely back flat on the ground! I recently rediscovered this denim shirt and have been wearing it almost constantly since. I was actually a bit sad to have to put it in the wash today because I know my mum will take ages to wash it…

I haven’t used this backdrop for photos since this post, which reminded me my blog is almost a year old! Time flies! What did you get up to for Easter?x

Nail Wraps – eBay (seller) | Models Own Utopia | Base/Top coat – OPI Nail Envy

That’s a Wrap Baby
When it comes to beauty products, my range of knowledge doesn’t really stretch further than ‘it’s good’ or ‘I don’t like it’. Even more so when it comes to anything nail-related; I am severely challenged at anything intricate (if you don’t believe me, you should play me on Draw Something!) and I usually spend ages painting my nails before getting really annoyed and cleaning it off. My brother is pretty talented with a pencil, clearly he took all the steady-handed expertise in our family.

However, I’m going to a wedding tomorrow and thought I’d better make a bit of an effort in the nail department! I’m going to wear this dress, but didn’t want to have just plain black nails so I decided to try out some nail wraps as I’ve read so much about them on the blogosphere in the last couple of months. I think these ones were about £1 on eBay which is so good considering Boots sell almost the exact same thing for about £6! I’m really pleased with them; they’re so easy to use and I think they look pretty good! I was going to use them on all my nails, but the rest of them are a bit short at the moment (hence the Nail Envy!) and I don’t think nail wraps look that great on short nails. The dress is nude and black, so it kind of works!

What are your experiences with nail wraps?x

A Week in Photos Mar 26, 2012

Creme Egg McFlurry - my work station in the garden - breakfast in the library - new leggings - Starbucks thing from Tesco - more ‘essay fuel’ - researching from a book with missing pages - easily distracted by my own reflection

This week I managed to break both my Creme Egg and clothes shopping lent. HOWEVER, I suspect McDonalds are stingey and didn’t put a whole Creme Egg in my McFlurry, and the leggings were almost free at £2 from eBay so quite clearly neither of these offences count. I really love the leggings though, they were originally from ASOS for £30! All I need is some shoes and a top to wear with them and I’m good to go. I’ve spent most of the week consuming artificially flavoured sugar coated confectionery (‘essay fuel’) whilst endlessly tapping away on my keyboard in the attempt to compose something that resembles an essay. 2237 words later and I’m still not convinced!

At the moment I’m supposed to be tottering around Central London in my 5 inch heels with a bottle of vodka in my hand celebrating my friend’s 20th birthday, but in the end I couldn’t go because my essay wasn’t finished (deadline was today). Absolutely gutted because I was so looking forward to it! And to add insult to injury, I completely forgot about the really cool leather backpack I was watching on eBay and it went for £3.59! RAGE!x

Naughty, but Nice Mar 18, 2012

Naughty, but Nice
I’ve mentioned these shoes a couple of times before:

Once when I first discovered/fell in love with them but forced myself to forget them as I couldn’t justify the price tag. And a second time about a week later, having just ordered them.

Don’t despair, I didn’t actually spend almost half my monthly wage so frivolously. I had a 25% discount code and my lovely boyfriend made a donation. So I only paid about £30, which is £60 discount so I couldn’t really say no!

Being 5’10 I’ve always had big feet. When I was 7 I had bigger feet than my brother’s 14 year old girlfriend, and by the time I was 9 I was sharing shoes with my mum! Nowadays I’m between a 7 and 8, so ordering shoes online is always a bit hit and miss. Usually miss. I bought these in a 7 expecting I’d have to get them stretched at the local shoe cobbler, but when they arrived I didn’t know whether to put them on my feet or climb inside and sail down the Thames! They were about two sizes too big! I exchanged them for a size 6, which were too small. So I did end up taking a trip to the shoe cobbler! I’m putting the confusing sizing down to the fact they were made in America…

Being a fan of quirky footwear, I absolutely love these. They will be essential to my summer wardrobe. My first ever pair of Jeffrey Campbells and I think I’m in love! Next on the list, LITAS BBY!x

BRB Mar 11, 2012

After two weeks of wearing no makeup I’ve decided to adopt this hairstyle

If you don’t follow me on twitter then I’ll forgive you for suspecting I’ve fallen off the face of the earth, if you do follow me then I’m sure you’ll be quite aware that I’ve actually spent most of the last week in the library…which actually is essentially the same thing when you live at university. The library is a lonely place. Yep, it’s that time of the semester again when you wake up at gone midday and realise “shit, I’ve got 6,000 words to write by the end of the month” naaaaht a fun feeling I can assure you! Plus I’ve given clothes shopping up for lent and swapped makeup for smothering my face in Diprobase ointment (so beautiful!) so excuse me for having a lack of blogging material. Unless you’re particularly interested in reading about the common ancestoral features of Germanic languages? Or William Blake and the rest of the Romantic posse of the nineteenth century? Thought not. To be perfectly honest I’m not particularly interested in reading about it either, but thus is life!

My Hatchi pretending to be me and reading a lot!

Anyways, not gonna be blogging too regularly over the next couple of weeks, but I wont be completely abonding it. Seeya in a bizzle!x

ps. I recently joined Hellocotton. I haven’t had time to properly get ‘into’ it, but I will be looking for some new blogs to follow so comment with your links if you’re on there. Here’s a link to my profile if you’re interested ; )
